Conditions of Play and Qualification

 1.   Conditions of Play

(a)  The Championship shall be decided by Stroke Play over 36 holes over two days, 18 holes being played on each of the two days.

(b)  72 or more competitors (to be decided by the Committee) shall be eligible to compete. The winner shall be the Competitor who returns the lowest    Gross Score over 36 holes stroke play. 

(c)  In the event of a tie, the Championship shall be decided by a sudden death play-off, under stroke play rules, over holes to be nominated by the Committee to determine the winner. All others to be equal runners-up and to receive prizes. Minor prizes to be decided by a card play-off procedure. (All in accordance with General Conditions clause 12)

(d)  Subsidiary Competitions by age groups shall be played within the Championship. Competitors returning the lowest gross score over 36 holes in each of the age groups shall receive a prize. The Championship winner, the second and third placed players shall not be eligible for a subsidiary age group prize.

(e)  If entry is restricted to 81 competitors, 31, 25, 20 and 5 places respectively shall be allocated to the age groups 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over.  

(f)   If, in each individual group, applications exceed the number of places allocated, entries from the higher handicap players shall be decided by ballot.

2.   Qualification

To be eligible to enter, a player must be: ‑

(a)  A male member of a golf club affiliated through its County Union to the South Eastern Group of England Golf.

(b)  Shall have not played for a County, or in any Championship of a County outside the South Eastern Group during the calendar year of the Championship.

(c)  In possession of a "Competative" playing handicap not exceeding 12 under the current CONGU Unified Handicapping System.  

3.   Entries

(a)  Entries must be made on the official Entry Form to be obtained from the Group Secretary of the England Golf South Eastern Group.

(b)  Entrants must have attained the age of 55 years on or before the first day of   the Championship.

(c)   Entry fee together with the duly completed entry form must be sent to the Group Secretary of the England Golf South Eastern Group complete with a stamped address envelope (minimum size DL 110 X 220) on or before the designated closing date.

(d)  No entry fee will be refunded unless written/email/fax notice of withdrawal is received before the closing date for entries, except to any entrant who may be balloted out and who does not subsequently compete.

4.    Prizes

(a)   The winner of the Championship shall be the England Golf South Eastern Group Men's Amateur Senior Golfer for the year.

(b)   The Championship winner, the second and third placed players in the Championship and the winners of the age-group competitions shall receive mementos.

5.   Note - These Conditions of Competition must be read in conjunction with: England Golf - South Eastern Group “General Conditions” and England Golf "Hard Card".
