SOUTHERN COUNTIES SENIORS FOURSOMES TOURNAMENT

Rules

Open to members of Golf Clubs, affiliated to a County Golf Union, aged 55 years and over on the first day of the Tournament.
To represent a county in any South Eastern Group event, a player must have his ’home club’ in the county that he is representing.

The 16 Counties participating will be divided into the following 4 areas. ­

North/East

Bedfordshire

Norfolk

Cambridgeshire

Suffolk

South/East

Essex

Hertfordshire

Kent

Middlesex

South

B B & O

Hampshire

Surrey

Sussex

West

Devon

Gloucestershire

Somerset

Wiltshire

 

Preliminary rounds.(To be played on a weekday before the 31st August.)

Each County Union will select a team of 10 players.

All games to be played as 18 holes Matchplay Foursomes, - no match continuing beyond the 18th green.

Exceptionally, and with only the agreement of all four Counties concerned, permission may be given by the Tournament Committee for a regional round to be decided by another mode of play and scoring.

Each area will provide an "area winner" to compete in the Finals. The winners of the am round to play off pm to ascertain the "area winner" and runner-up, the remaining two teams contesting 3rd and 4th places.

The order of play am will also apply pm but a direct substitute may be made pm

Ties. In the event of a team tie, the winning scores will be added together e.g. 5/4 = 9 + 6/5 =11 Total 20 points. If still not resolved the scores of individual matches will count, starting with the top match and if still a tie, matches by descending order.

The use of buggies will not be allowed.

Semi-Final and Final rounds(to be played on a weekday early in October.)

The draw for the Finals will be automatic and rotate as follows. –

Year 1. Ne versus Se;     S  versus W;              Year 2. _ Ne versus S;      Se versus W;

Year 3. Ne versus W;     S   versus Se;       and so on. (see list below)

The semi-finals will be played AM, the winners playing PM to provide the "Winning County" and Runner-up of the Tournament. The losing semi-finalists playing PM for the 3rd and 4th places. The rules appertaining to the preliminary rounds will be applied.

Administration

The Tournament Committee will be provided by the S.E. Group whose decisions will be final.

It is the duty of County Unions organising the Preliminary rounds to advise match results to the SE Group Secretary.

Preliminary rounds:    Each County to provide a venue every 4th year or 8th year as required.

Semi-final and Final:  Each County to provide a venue normally every 16th year. SE Group Secretary will provide a rota document.

SE Group Secretary will make the necessary arrangements for the finals with the Host County
